Support public access to important archival collections

The Kuskokwim Consortium Library is seeking donations to support building a website to enable free digital access to archival materials. KCL is working with a company called to build the website and host the materials. All content will be searchable, making it a valuable research tool.
Initially, the website will host the digitized copies of the Tundra Drums Newspaper and the Diane Carpenter collection. As new archival collections become digitized, such as the Kaliikaq Yugnek journal from the 1970s, they will be added to the website.
Diane Carpenter was a long-time Bethel resident, bush pilot, community organizer and a driving force behind bringing electricity to rural communities. She served as the founding vice president of the ֱֻ Village Electric Cooperative. The breadth and depth of her contributions to Western ֱֻ are reflected in her archive of over 700 documents covering 35 different subjects. ACEP supported the return of Carpenter’s collection to ֱֻ and its final home in the ֱֻ and Polar Regions Collections and Archives at the ֱֻ Elmer E. Rasmuson Library.
