Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor search

UAF is conducting a national search for its next provost and executive vice chancellor. A committee representing the breadth of the UAF community will work alongside executive search firm WittKieffer on the search. The process will include opportunities for feedback to inform the recruitment and on-campus interviews with finalists in the spring.

 

Search timeline

  • October 2026: Search committee is formed, and search partner WittKieffer is retained
  • November 2026: In-person listening sessions hosted, and community survey distributed
  • November 2026-January 2027: National recruiting underway
  • Early 2027: Search committee reviews and evaluates candidates, interviews first-round candidates and recommends finalists
  • Spring 2027: On-campus interviews with finalists, with opportunity for community input
  • Spring 2027: Final selection by chancellor and appointment
  • Fall 2027: Provost on campus

Search committee

The committee’s charge is to help shape the position profile, recruit qualified candidates, evaluate consistently, narrow the pool to the final candidates, and provide the chancellor with a written assessment of each finalist’s key strengths and areas for consideration, without ranking the candidates.
