UAF Student Ceramics Art Guild Presents: Visiting Artist Dawn HolderOctober 21-22nd UAF Fine Arts Complex 415 & BP Theatre
The ֱֻ Art Department and the Student Ceramics Art Guild is proud to host visiting artist Dawn Holder for two days of demonstrations, a hands-on workshop, and an evening artist talk. Hosted by the UAF Student Ceramics Art Guild, this special event will take place on Tuesday, October 21st, and Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025.
Dawn Holder is an acclaimed ceramic and mixed-media artist whose work explores the ways we connect with the world around us through landscape, culture, and material. Her porcelain sculptures and installations draw inspiration from Minimalism, Eco-Feminism, and the Necropastoral, examining subjects such as the American lawn, the history of monuments, and ecological imbalance. Holder is an Associate Professor at Indiana University Indianapolis’ Herron School of Art, where she teaches ceramics and serves as Graduate Director of the MFA in Visual Arts. Her award-winning work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, earning recognition for its thought-provoking beauty and technical mastery.

Ceramic Demonstrations: Tuesday & Wednesday, Oct. 21st & 22nd, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (with a break from 12:00 – 1:00 PM) Location: UAF Fine Arts Complex, Room 415 **On Wednesday, she's planning a "slip dip experience" - bring in thin, flexible, and absorbent objects (dried plants and flowers) and get a chance to coat them in porcelain slip.Visiting Artist Lecture: Tuesday, Oct. 21st, 6:00 – 7:00 PM Location: BP Theatre, UAF Fine Arts Complex
