Midnight Sun Visiting Writers Series announces fall 2026 lineup

The fall 2026 lineup for the Midnight Sun Visiting Writers Series, hosted by the University of ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Fairbanks Department of English, features three events.

Award-winning author, visual artist and speaker Tessa Hulls, best known for her Pulitzer Prize–winning graphic memoir "Feeding Ghosts," will give a reading at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in Schaible Auditorium and .

Readings from the "ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Literary Field Guide," a Pacific Northwest Book Award finalist, will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Arnold Espe Auditorium at the University of ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Museum of the North. The celebratory evening will feature live readings from 12 contributing poets.

Podcaster, filmmaker and author James Dommek Jr. will lead a free Iñupiaq public storytelling event at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, in Schaible Auditorium and . This event is a collaboration with the UAF College of Indigenous Studies' ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Native Writers Workshop class.

All readings are free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and signing at select events.

Since the early 1970s, the writers series has connected the Interior ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ community with celebrated literary voices through free public readings.
