Update on the UAF chancellor search – Next steps

March 2, 2026

The search for the next chancellor of the ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ is progressing as planned.

The search committee will begin an initial review of applicant materials on March 19 and will move into the semifinalist evaluation phase. During this stage, the committee will conduct Zoom interviews, currently scheduled for mid-April, to further assess each candidate’s leadership experience, alignment with institutional priorities and demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, research advancement and community engagement.

Following semifinalist interviews, the committee will propose finalists to advance to the last phase of the search. Finalists will be invited to participate in on-campus visits, which will include open forums with faculty, staff, students and community stakeholders. These visits are intended to provide meaningful opportunities for engagement and feedback. The finalist visits are tentatively scheduled for the week after commencement, but that timing may be subject to change depending on how the UA System president search progresses.

Details regarding finalist visits, including schedules and opportunities for submitting input, will be shared with the campus community once confirmed.

The committee remains committed to a thorough, transparent and inclusive process. Continued engagement and input from across the university community are appreciated as the committee works to identify the next leader of UAF. If you have people in your network who you think would be an excellent chancellor of UAF, please encourage them to submit an application.

Additional updates will be provided as the search advances.
