Summer Reading: Level Up At Your Library

It's time to get signed up for SUMMER READING! Summer reading programs at the library help students retain literacy skills developed during the school year and prevent students from losing literacy skills gained during the school year.
How do I get signed up for summer reading?
You can stop by the library and fill out a sign up sheet, give the library a call at 907- 543- 4516, or sign up online. If you sign up online, make sure to drop by the library to pick up your summer reading bag that has your reading log, calendar of summer programs, and fun activities.

Who can sign up for summer reading?
The Kuskokwim Consortium Library has four age brackets for the reading challenges. challenges:
- PreK: ages birth to 5
- Children: ages 6 to 11
- Teens: ages 12 to 18
- Adults: 18+
In other words, everyone can sign up for summer reading!
When does summer reading start?
Summer reading officially begins on Friday May 22. The last chance to log pages is August 13 at 6 p.m.
What can you expect from summer reading this year?
There are two elements to summer reading. The first is a reading drive with the goal of reading as much as possible in order to get entered into the summer reading raffle to win prizes at our end-ofsummer reading celebration. Some prizes may include sports equipment, craft/art kits, gift cards, and so much more! Log those pages into summer reading and your chances of winning something awesome are almost guaranteed. We will also be doing another read to win challenge at the library where the first to reach 5,000 pages in their age bracket will win a prize. Like last year, we will have a visual board tracking everyoneās progress towards 5,000 pages. You must stop by the library or contact library staff to move your piece in order for it to count.
The second part of Summer Reading is programming. The library will host lots of programs this summer around the theme of āPlant a Seed, Readā with local partners like Julie McWilliams, Tundra Womenās Coalition, and Kuskokwim Campus. We are looking to a fun summer of planting programs, Dutch Oven Gourmet, Artapalooza, and so much more!
