Yet another dramatic Arctic Report Card

Chinook salmon, also known as kings, began declining in ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥'s largest and second-largest river systems in 2000. By 2022 (2023 data is not in yet), Chinook numbers had declined 80% when compared to the 30-year average.

CTC Culinary Arts cooks up support for Stone Soup Café

UAF Community and Technical College Culinary Arts and Hospitality faculty and staff are extending a helping hand at Bread Line, Inc.'s Stone Soup Café by serving free meals to the community from Dec. 20-22. In addition to their service, they are collecting donations to support the vital work this organization does in addressing hunger in Fairbanks.

Arctic Report Card highlights salmon extremes, local observers

Eleven ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ scientists contributed as authors to the 18th Arctic Report Card released Dec. 12, 2023. The report card, produced by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, documents how warming air, ocean and land affect people and ecosystems.

UAF secures $14.9 million to mentor teachers new to ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥

The ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ has secured a $14.9-million grant from the U.S. Department of Education and Innovation Research to expand its teacher mentorship program. The ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Statewide Mentor Project will expand from serving only first- and second-year teachers to mentoring all teachers new to the state, including experienced educators from other countries.

2023-2024 winter break snow removal

A total of six "Goldie" awards were presented to Student Media's KSUA 91.5FM College Radio, the student-powered radio station of UAF's Center for Student Engagement. Various UAF students and faculty received recognition for their hard work, winning the top prizes for Promotional Announcement, Use of Digital Media, Radio Show, Entertainment Program, Public Service Announcement, and Profile categories in the Student Radio division.

UAF AISES Chapter receives Cultural Practice Award

The UAF AISES Chapter received the Cultural Practice Award during the 46th annual American Indian Science and Engineering Society National Conference in Spokane, Washington. The award, the very first given this year, recognizes chapters that demonstrate the use of cultural practices that help students preserve their Indigenous cultures and ways of knowing through chapter meetings and activities.
