Risk Managment FAQs
Becoming an authorized driver is a simple process, but it requires several documents to complete. For the most current process, please visit the UAF Risk Management website and follow the step-by-step drop-down menus on the "Driving" tab. Most driving-related questions can be answered by carefully reviewing the information found there. If you still cannot find what you are looking for after reviewing the page, please contact the UAF Risk Manager at rwhitman@alaska.edu or at (907) 474-5487.
You can check the status of any forms with which you've interacted in your NextGen dashboard. If you are not familiar with accessing it, you can go to and access the dashboard from there. In the dashboard, there is a "My Forms History" button on the main section of the page, towards the center (furthest right button of three). From there, you should be able to view your form and see whether your supervisor has already signed it and save/print a copy if you'd like to.
When the form is complete, you should also receive an email from DynamicForms that states a co-signer has signed the form. If your supervisor has not yet signed the form, you should let them know to check for the email prompting their review. If they are not familiar with the DynamicForms platform, it may be interpreted as junk mail and get overlooked or deleted.
The driver safety training and corresponding quiz must be completed once every three years. However, the driver authorization process must be completed annually. To avoid needing to complete training again before it is due, you should keep a copy of your quiz results because they must be uploaded annually when you renew your driver authorization.
While there are some exceptions, individuals who have care and control of minors at UAF or in the course and scope of UAF business are required to become Authorized Adults. For more information, please visit the Protection of Minors website, reference the UAF Protection of Minors Policy, or contact the Protection of Minors Manager at mmderepentigny@alaska.edu or at (907) 474-6015.
Authorized Adults must complete Protection of Minors training annually. All other employees must complete at least once upon hire and may be requested to complete it more frequently depending on their engagement with minors in various capacities. Please reference the UAF Protection of Minors Policy and the UAF Required Training Policy.
