The Tanana District is one of the largest Cooperative Extension Service districts in the United States, covering an area of more than 120,000 square miles. The population is approximately 100,000 and includes the Fairbanks North Star Borough and 64 villages with a mostly ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Native population. Much of the district is inaccessible by road. The main economic drivers are mining, tourism, the University of ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥, and the military.
The district offers outreach programs in agriculture and horticulture; health, home and family development; integrated pest management; nutrition; and 4-H and youth development.

This three-day course is for ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ns preparing for the certified pesticide exam with the ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Department of Environmental Conservation. The training will be offered over Zoom and includes all necessary study materials for the categories of your choice. North Pole Ptarmigans meet the fourth Saturday of each month, from 2-5 p.m., at the UAF University Park Building, 1000 University Ave., in Room 150. During the summer, meeting times and locations are more varied to accommodate project tours and special learning opportunities.
