    Cooperative Extension's Tanana District office moving to new location

    The ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Cooperative Extension Service office for the Tanana District, now located at the old University Park building at 1000 University Ave., is moving to a new space in the new year. The office is relocating to Room 205 in the UAF Community and Technical College at 604 Barnette St. in downtown Fairbanks.

    Presentation planned on GPS use for recreation

    A free in-person and virtual presentation will discuss how to use a GPS receiver for navigation and safer backcountry travel. Nelson Crone, farm director at the Matanuska Experiment Farm and Extension Center in Palmer, will provide a basic overview of GPS use for navigation, plus tips and best practices for recreational travel in ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥.

    Anchorage researcher to discuss results of snow load survey

    A recent survey shows 70% of Anchorage residents are concerned about heavy snow loads on roofs, and a significant number are hiring help to address these concerns. In a webinar hosted by the ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Cooperative Extension Service, Jennifer Schmidt, associate professor of natural resource management and policy at the University of ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Anchorage Institute of Social and Economic Research, will discuss the results of the survey.

    2026 pesticide applicator classes set

    November 20, 2025

    A three-day certified pesticide applicator training workshop is scheduled for Jan. 27-29, with a second workshop planned for April 21-23. The workshops are led by the ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥ Cooperative Extension Service via Zoom and are available statewide.

The free annual wrap-up brings together ÀÖ»¢Ö±²¥'s agricultural researchers with local farmers to provide updates on their various projects.
